Gardner Minshew Tells Chris Long He ‘Hasn’t Taken A S–t In Weeks’, Because Number 2 Isn’t An Option

Former mullet man, jorts fashionista, Jacksonville Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew tells Chris Long during a podcast interview that he ‘hasn’t taken a s–t in weeks’ because ‘number 2 isn’t an option’ for him.

Minshew mania was a short lived hype train that quickly burned out after his rookie season, but it sure was a fun one! The former 6th round pick of the Jaguars seems to still believe that he will compete for the starting QB spot this year even after the team drafted Trevor Lawrence with the 1.01 in this year’s NFL draft.

While reports out of camp have been quite tight lipped about who will officially start week 1, we are still extremely early in the process. Would I be shocked if Minshew got the start in week 1? No. But do I expect him to have it by week 4, not a chance. While you may not always expect your newly drafted QB to be ready to go with a whole new playbook, having a former College coach at the helm in Urban Meyer should ease the transition to the pros.

Minshew did all he could do in his 2019 rookie season, starting 12 games for a 6-6 record and a 21 TD to 6 interception ratio. Unfortunately he was not able to improve on his rookie season in 2020 as the team went 1-7 in his starts as Mike Glennon even saw some work.

The team was awarded the 1st overall pick in the offseason and promptly took QB Trevor Lawrence. While it’s nice to think that Minshew is not done in the NFL, his days in Jacksonville are surely numbered. Trade rumors have followed him this offseason but with so many high-priority names still in limbo like Aaron Rodgers and Deshaun Watson, it seems quite unlikely that any team will jump at the chance to acquire a former 6th rounder in Minshew, even if he doesn’t take a sh-t until the regular season starts.
