Despite Crowd Storming The Field, Notre Dame Has No Positive COVID Tests

It was highly controversial when the Notre Dame student body stormed the field after the team’s thrilling OT win against Clemson on Saturday Night.

Notre Dame President Rev. John. I. Jenkins sent out a statement condemning the students for storming the field.

“As exciting as last night’s victory against Clemson was, it was very disappointing to see evidence of widespread disregard of our health protocols at many gatherings over the weekend,” Rev. Jenkins said in a letter sent late Sunday via TMZ.

Even though the students acted recklessly, it looks like the football players may have dodged a bullet.

“We’ve had two tests,” Note Dame head coach Brian Kelly said on Mike Greenberg’s radio show, “Greeny,” on Wednesday, per 247 Sports. “We passed all of our testing on Sunday and again on Tuesday, so that’s a really good sign.”

Sometimes COVID can take some time to show up in a test, so the Fighting Irish aren’t out of the woods, yet. This is a very good sign for the new #2 team in the nation, though.

“We’ll test again Thursday and we’ll test on Friday,” Kelly said. “So, you know, that’s always hanging over you.”

Notre Dame is scheduled to face off against Boston College this Saturday. The Fighting Irish are right in the thick of things for a spot in the college football playoffs. The last time Notre Dame was a National Champion was in 1988. They’re hoping for a return to glory, and they might just have the team to do it.

Let’s take it easy on the crowd-storming in the future. We all want to see this season to the end.
