It looks like Ben DiNucci is the next man up for Mike Mccarthy and the Dallas Cowboys.
DiNucci was a seventh round draft pick out of James Madison. He started this season as a third string quarterback behind Dak Prescott and Andy Dalton. Prescott is now out for the year, and Dalton is still in concussion protocol after taking a nasty hit last Sunday.
Is this Ben DiNucci’s time? It certainly seems like it. DiNucci’s teammates seem to like what he has to offer.
How has Ben DiNucci looked at practice this week?
Michael Gallup: “Dude, he’s been slingin’ that thing.”

Star running back Ezekiel Elliott also weighed in.
Ezekiel Elliott says rookie QB Ben DiNucci's been confident, in command of Cowboys huddle. Brings arm talent & mobility to escape pocket. A scouting report from practice or studying tendencies?
Zeke: “Honestly I wouldn’t even know where to find Ben DiNucci’s college tape" 😂

Fair enough, Zeke. I don’t know where to watch James Madison either.

DiNucci said he approached Dak Prescott for some advice prior to what could very well be his debut as an NFL starter.
“Kind of just walked up to him and said, ‘Hey this isn’t what you said my rookie year was going to be like,'” DiNucci said via ESPN. “He laughed and gave me a hug and just said, ‘We’ve talked about this. Go out there and do you. Take completions. Trust the guys around you. You’ll be great. Don’t overthink it. Football’s football.’ It’s a game I’ve been playing since seventh grade. Not going to try to make it any more than it is. Going to have fun with it, bring a lot of energy, bring a lot of confidence and let my play speak for itself.
“For me, this is an opportunity of a lifetime. I think, as a rookie seventh-rounder coming in, you see Dak and you see Andy at the top of the depth chart, it’s, ‘Hey, there’s no chance that I’m going to be on the field this year.’ But, hey, this is 2020. What else do you expect? Here we are. Week 8 of my rookie year I’ve got a chance to go out there on Sunday Night Football and do what I love to do. I couldn’t be happier or more excited.”
Sounds like this kid has a really good head on his shoulders. I’ll be rooting for him on Sunday night, if he does play in the Cowboys game against the Eagles.
The quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys is often considered the most prominent position in all of sports. How fitting for 2020 would it be if that person is a rookie seventh rounder from James Madison.
I say fuck it, why can’t this guy be successful? If we’ve seen anything this year, it’s that anything is possible. What the world needs right now is a cinderella story. Maybe Ben DiNucci can provide just that.
