Russell Westbrook Trade Rumors Hit the Net

The James Harden – Russell Westbrook experiment might be short lived in Houston as the NBA hot stove begins to sizzle this offseason. If the emerging rumors are true, Russell Westbrook could be on the move this NBA offseason. The attempt by the Houston Rockets to pair the two ball-dominant superstars was unsuccessful which could lead to a blockbuster trade. Could this be an opportunity for the Miami Heat to capitalize and pair Jimmy Butler with another star? Will another contender throw their hat in? Or, is Westbrook headed to a less championship-ready organization?

The Houston Rockets have a new head coach in Stephen Silas for the 2020-21 season. He will implement his own style which will most likely be a very different system than Mike D’Antoni’s. James Harden needs to have the ball in his hands at all times, a trait that did not work with Westbrook on the floor. Because of that, something didn’t look right with them on the court together.

Russell Westbrook is too good to waste his best years not playing for championships. If the Rockets are entering a rebuilding or transition phase it might be best for all parties if they find an amicable separation with an equitable trade to another contending team.
