Chicago Bears Are Reportedly Keeping Head Coach Matt Nagy And GM Ryan Pace

After meeting for nearly two days, the Chicago Bears brass appears to have made their decision on coach Matt Nagy and GM Ryan Pace. According to reports, they’re not going anywhere.

“The rumor flying around the NFL right now is #Bears will retain GM Ryan Pace & coach Matt Nagy into 2021. That’s what folks working in the league have heard. We’ll see if team has something this evening but that is the chatter that’s out there right now,” Bears beat writer Brad Biggs tweeted out on Tuesday Night.

Both Nagy and Pace have received a ton of criticism in Chicago after a mid-season collapse culminated in getting blasted by the New Orleans Saints in the playoffs. Pace has been enemy #1 in Chicago for his decision to draft Mitch Trubisky over Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes.

Nagy, on the other hand, has been consistently knocked for his inability to run a successful offensive scheme. While Nagy did go 12-4 in his first year, his offense has sputtered ever since, and ranked near the bottom of the league in the 2020-21 season.

If the report of Nagy and Pace both sticking around is true, then I take that as the organization pinning Mitchell Trubisky as the scapegoat. If Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace want to continue to stick around with the Chicago Bears, they’ll need to find the right quarterback, and they’ll need to do it this offseason.
