Bill Belichick Gets Defensive Over NFL Draft Question

Bill Belichick is having a different kind of season without Tom Brady. The 3-5 New England Patriots are in the midst of an uncharacteristic losing season, with some questioning subpar performances in the NFL Draft in recent years as a primary reason for the slide. Because of this, coach Bill Belichick cited the organization’s overall success when questioned on the topic Friday.

“I’d say the most important thing to me is winning games. I’m not going to apologize for our record over the last 20 years. I’ve seen a lot worse,” Belichick said of the NFL Draft question during his regularly scheduled videoconference.

The Patriots have won six Super Bowls in Bill Belichick’s time coaching and making NFL Draft picks in New England. Their last losing season was in 2000, Belichick’s first year as coach. Times are tough without Tom, but getting on the coach’s case about a losing season after all that winning seems harsh. Apparently drafting the best quarterback of all time in the sixth round doesn’t earn someone as much credit as it once did.
