The NFL draft has come and gone and Baker Mayfield is still a Brown.
Though the Cleveland Browns tried to move the disgruntled quarterback Baker Mayfield at one point during the draft, ultimately no deal materialized.
So Mayfield remains with Cleveland, while Jimmy Garoppolo is still with the 49ers. Not much action there.
Now we’re hearing what’s next for Mayfield and the Browns.
General Manager Andrew Berry appears content to wait for the right deal for the organization to materialize.
âIt is a fluid situation,â Berry said, via Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan. âWe will deal with it day by day. We are pleased with the weekend and pleased with the guys that we added.â

At least publicly, Berry isnât fretting over not making a deal to get Mayfield off the roster.
âI would not say it is any more challenging than really a lot of situations that cross a General Managerâs desk,â Berry said.
The Browns are still on the hook for Mayfieldâs $18.8 million guaranteed salary.
Might the Browns just keep him as a backup? That’s a costly backup QBÂ but at this point they’re not going to get much in return if they release him.
Mayfield’s record is 30-31, including the playoffs.
