John Harbaugh’s Comments About Lamar Jackson’s Preseason Availability Have Major Betting Ramifications

Will the Baltimore Ravens be giving reps to starting quarterback, Lamar Jackson, this preseason?

Earlier today, Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh gave us that answer when announcing that the former MVP would be out for their game against the Cardinals on Sunday.

Per ESPN insider Adam Schefter:

“Ravens’ HC John Harbaugh announced that QB Lamar Jackson will not play in Baltimore’s next preseason game Sunday at Arizona.”

Betting Impact Of Lamar Jackson Decision

Unfortunately for bettors looking for an easy winner, the Cardinals are also unlikely to play their star QB, Kyler Murray, in Sunday’s game.

Check out the early line of the game, per Draftkings:

  • Ravens -5.5
  • O/U: 38.5
  • Ravens -225, Cardinals +190

Even after the Lamar Jackson news, the Ravens still sit as somewhat heavy favorites against the Cardinals. Without Jackson, the Ravens will turn to their QB room consisting of backups Tyler Huntley and Anthony Brown.

During their last game against the Titans in preseason, the Ravens were able to come away victorious, winning 23-10.

Over the last few seasons, Harbaugh’s Ravens have made bettors very, very happy in the preseason. They’re currently working on a ridiculously strong 21 game winning streak in preseason after their win against the Titans.

Last season, Tyler Huntley proved to be a more than serviceable backup to Lamar Jackson, and could easily have a spot as a starter in the league someday if he continues to shine in his current role.

With both Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray out, it would be hard to fade the Ravens given their current streak of impressive play in the preseason.

Give me the -5.5 here.
