NFLPA Bracing for an ‘Unprecedented’ Punishment Against Deshaun Watson

The Cleveland Browns made their bed.

It appears like it’s going to be a while until Browns fans see their new star Quarterback. According to ProFootballTalk, the NFL Players Association is bracing for an ā€œunprecedentedā€ punishment to be levied against Watson for violations of the leagueā€™s personal conduct policy. According to the report, the NFLPAā€™s defense for Watson will be to point out the NFLā€™s double-standard for its owners.

“Per a source with knowledge of the intended strategy, the NFLPA currently is bracing for a recommendation by the league of ā€œunprecedentedā€ punishment of Watson. Whatever the specific penalty, the union will mobilize to defend Watson, as it is required to do by the federal duty of fair representation.

The report goes on to explains that the NFLPA would defend Watson in part by making an aggressive argument that a lack of punishment handed down on a trio of owners who recently have found themselves in off-field controversy.

Clearly that’s the only defense they have at this point. Whether or not Watson is guilty of any crimes, there’s too much evidence out there that something strange was taking place. 24 women have the exact same issues with Watson, and the amount of excessive massages and masseuses’ shows something was certainly amiss.

Cleveland traded for Watson and signed him to a five-year contract worth a guaranteed $230 million.

Money potentially not well spent.
