Decision on Baker Mayfield Has Reportedly Been Made by the Panthers Ahead of NFL Draft

Baker Mayfield is still searching for a new place to call home.

The Carolina Panthers have long been considered one of the landing spots for the former beloved Cleveland Browns starting quarterback. They didn’t get what they were hoping for out of Sam Darnold or Cam Newton, and are looking for a better fit for their long term future. Darnold is just not the guy, they do realize he’s not the answer. Given how little the Browns are asking for Baker Mayfield at this point, considering the alternative would be having to cut him, Carolina might roll the dice on Baker and hope he can find his rhythm in a new home.

But that doesn’t look it’s happening.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Panthers do not appear interested in trading for Mayfield at this time.

“The Panthers are not expected to trade for Browns QB Baker Mayfield prior to the first round of the NFL Draft, sources say, if they do it at all. Thursday has to play out first before any other options are considered. Carolina picks No. 6,” Rapoport tweeted.

Sounds like the Panthers might just draft a QB rather than get a guy like Baker on their team.

Robby Anderson is going to be pretty happy about this latest report.
