Buccaneers GM Speaks On Tom Brady Beyond Next Season

Tom Brady almost called it quits this offseason.

Thankfully he decided against retiring to give it another go with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tom will be 45 years old when the season starts, and that was kind of his goal.

But will he play beyond 45? And if so, will it be in another uniform?

Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht weighed in on Tom Brady beyond this coming season. Licht was asked about that possibility at the NFL Owners Meetings in Palm Beach.

Licht wouldn’t address Tom’s contract situation. They’re going to focus on this year.

JoeBucsFan.com: Should fans assume that you’re doing everything you can to re-sign Tom Brady for next year and beyond, to give him a long-term contract?

Jason Licht: You know, we’re just happy that we have him back. We’ll see where it goes from here. We’re just happy that he’s going to be playing for us this year. We’ll see where it goes.

The way Tom Brady looked last season, you would think he has a few more good years left. That being said, at Tom’s advance age,  his skills could just fall off a cliff at any moment. Father time is undefeated, and eventually if Tom continues to play, it’s going to beat Tom down.

Still wouldn’t be shocked if he plays until he’s 47 or 48 though.
