Now that the Lakers have officially parted ways with head coach Frank Vogel, Russell Westbrook is making it clear that he wasn’t much of a fan.
Towards the end of the season, Westbrook showed some animosity towards the coach when he was benched during the end of games. And now, he’s openly pondering why Frank Vogel had it out for him.
“We never really connected,” Westbrook told reporters Monday after the Lakers announced they parted ways with Vogel as the head coach. “From the get-go, I was feeling I had to prove myself to him.”
Westbrook also said of Vogel, “I’m not sure what his issue was with me.”
"I never was given a fair chance to be who I needed to be to better help this team."

Now that Frank Vogel is gone, the Lakers will be left trying to figure out what to do with Russell Westbrook. The former MVP never clicked in Los Angeles, but is set to earn over $47 Million with the team next season.
When speaking to reporters shortly after the season ended, Westbrook revealed that his “plan” was to return to LA next season, but the decision is out of his control.
I find it hard to believe that the Lakers will run it back with Russell Westbrook next season. But one thing is for sure: he won’t be joining Frank Vogel elsewhere.
