It appears that Kyrie Irving will be staying with the Brooklyn Nets after all.
Despite the rumors that he was currently seeking a sign and trade, it was revealed tonight that Irving was opting in to his player option for next season.
Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving is opting into his $37 million player option for the 2022-23 season, @TheAthletic @Stadium has learned. Irving is bypassing on multiple opt-in and trade scenarios to fulfill his four-year commitment to the Nets and Kevin Durant.

With Kyrie Irving apparently staying in Brooklyn, it would seem likely that Kevin Durant would also run it back — making this offseason a whole lot more boring.
Obviously, the Nets could still move Irving (or Durant). But now it seems a lot more likely that the Nets are making the logical decision to see if the Irving-Durant partnership can work next year.
Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant remain two of the very best players in the NBA. And if some of the off-court drama dwindles just a bit, then it’s hard to say they can’t compete for a championship.
