Even though it appeared Russell Westbrook was going to be a one and done in LA, new coach Darvin Ham seems to be a believer in the point guard.
During his introductory press conference on Monday, Ham made it clear that he’s expecting to get the most out of Westbrook with the Lakers next season.
Russell Westbrook was in attendance at the presser to hear his new coach’s remarks.
"Russ is one of the best players our league has ever seen, and still there's still a ton left in that tank."

During the hiring process, the Lakers reportedly asked potential coaches how they would incorporate Russell Westbrook into their plan. And Darvin Ham seems like the guy who had the best answer.
Despite his dismal 2021 season, Westbrook is still a Hall of Fame who has plenty of athleticism to this day. But after how disconnected the “Big 3” of Anthony Davis, LeBron James and Westbrook looked last season, it’s hard to imagine they’ll be able to turn into contenders overnight.
Good luck to Darvin Ham.
