Dana White Sheds Light On Potential Conor McGregor-Charles Oliveira Fight

Despite vacating his lightweight belt due to a controversial weigh-in problem, Charles Oliveira asserted his dominance, yet again, on Saturday night.

The former champ (now #1 contender) got Justin Gaethje not he ground and put him in a choke hold to end the fight early on in the first round.

After the fight, Charles Oliveira called on Conor McGregor to be his next opponent.

Conor McGregor responded to Charles Oliveira’s call out.

“I’m not sure I wish to cut the weight. I am really enjoying being built like a refrigerator. I feel I want to fight at this size just to watch it back lol. But I’d love to fight the Brazilian, 100%! I love Brazil and I’m unbeaten against Brazil. All KO’s. I’ve some thinking to do,” he said on Twitter.

Dana White also made it seem unlikely that a Charles Oliveira-Conor McGregor fight was next, instead indicating that he was considering giving Islam Makhachev a shot at the title.

Conor McGregor is still rehabbing from the leg injury suffered in his last fight against Dustin poorer, and it’s unclear where he fights into the division when he’s ready to make his return.

But if you’re putting any stake in White’s comments, it seems unlikely that he’ll have a shot at the belt right away.

Perhaps it would make more sense to give Conor McGregor a fight against Michael Chandler or another shot at Dustin Poirer when we see him in the Octagon next.
