LeBron James Reportedly Makes His Pick For Lakers Head Coach

For a long time now, it has been widely assumed that the Lakers would move on from Frank Vogel as head coach following the disastrous 2021-22 season. And shortly after the last game of the season, it was announced that the team was, in fact, moving off the coach.

Shortly after the news became announced, the next question became: who does LeBron James want to take over?

Throughout his career, LeBron has gone through a number of head coaches. And usually, he gets what he wants when it comes to said decisions.

According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, LeBron James would be “enthused” if the team hired former Warriors coach Mark Jackson as head coach.

“And here’s a tidbit to monitor as the Lakers conduct their latest coaching search: Sources say James would be very enthused by the prospect of Mark Jackson landing the job,” Amick wrote. “But as history tells us, that doesn’t mean it will actually happen.”

Mark Jackson has not coach in the NBA since being let go from the Warriors following the 2013-14 season. During his three season with the team, he compiled a 121-109 record to go along with two playoff appearances.

Despite the Lakers’ lackluster 2021 season, LeBron put together as good of a season as anyone in the NBA. He averaged 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game while shooting 52.4 percent from the field.

For a while now, Mark Jackson has been patiently waiting for another chance to prove himself in the NBA. And perhaps a pairing with LeBron James will prove to be the perfect opportunity.
