Zdeno Chara Says Goodbye To Boston With Emotional Video After Signing With Washington Capitals

It’s the end of an era for Zdeno Chara and the Boston Bruins. For as long as I can remember, Chara was the face of the Boston Bruins franchise. The massive defenseman was known for his insanely fast slap shot, bone-crushing hits, and incredible toughness.

The Boston captain took to Instagram to say farewell to the city that treated him so well for so long.

“I want to first of all thank the passionate and loyal Bruins fans, who shared the ups and downs of each season over the past 14 years. I’m proud that we were able to return the Stanley Cup to Boston and celebrating with all of you, in Boston, New England, and around the world, was a moment I will never forget. You all have treated my family and me as one of your own and I will always be grateful. Thank you,” Chara wrote in his post.

While the 43-year-old veteran said goodbye to the Boston Bruins, he’s not ready to hang up the skates just yet. It was announced earlier today that Chara will be joining Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitols. Maybe Zdeno Chara will have one last opportunity to hoist the Stanley Cup.

Chara’s #33 with undoubtedly hang from the rafters at the TD Garden in Boston very soon.
