Vanessa Bryant Stands Up For Lebron James After L.A. County Sheriff Makes An Unusual Request

Vanessa Bryant is voicing her displeasure for L.A Country Sheriff Alex Villanueva after he called out Lebron James in a recent radio interview. Villanueva was speaking about the shooting of two sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday in Compton. During the interview, Villanueva randomly calls on Lakers star Lebron James to match the $175,000 reward for information in his case.

“You expressed a very interesting statement about your perspective on race relations and on officer-involved shootings and the impact that it has on the African American community,” Villanueva said during the interview. “And I appreciated that. But likewise, we need to appreciate that respect for life goes across all professions.”

While James has yet to respond, Vanessa Bryant was having none of it. Bryant shared multiple tweets from the handle @ElanMaree on her Instagram page. Both of which were in reference to photos being leaked after the helicopter crash that killed Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna.

Vanessa Bryant did file a claim against the sheriff’s department for releasing photos from the helicopter crash. She also concluded her instagram story by sending her thoughts and prayers to the two members of the LAPD who were wounded in the shooting on Saturday night by saying, ““Not all deputies are bad apples. Prayers for the two deputies that were shot.” Both officers have undergone surgery, and are expected to recover.

Why Call Out Lebron James?

As for Alex Villanueva calling out Lebron James, I don’t get it. Lebron James doesn’t owe anybody anything. Just because Lebron has put himself at the forefront of the black lives matter movement, doesn’t mean that anytime something bad happens he has to be the guy to answer the call. I’m sure this shooting was unjustifiable, and I hope they find and arrest the person responsible. However, calling out Lebron James is just a classless move.

This tactic will only bring out the “all lives matter crowd”, and further the divide between the progressives and the far-right. I don’t think it’s fair to expect Lebron to step up for every single injustice done in the Los Angeles area. He’s done enough, and I expect him to continue to make the world around him a better place.
