Tom Brady Almost Wore A Different Number With The Bucs

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady wore #12 during his entire time in New England, so when Tom decided to leave for Tampa, would he be wearing  #12? Brady almost didn’t wear #12 in Tampa. While on the Peter King Podcast this week, Bucs GM Jason Licht revealed Brady was totally fine with letting star WR Chris Godwin keep #12 because he had a new number in mind.

Sideaction’s Latest:

“After we had talked and we knew that this was gonna happen, I said, ‘Hey, there’s one other thing. It’s a small thing but maybe a big thing,” Licht says.”

“We have a #12 on our team and he’s pretty good, Chris Godwin. What are you thinking about that?’

Brady’s response?? … “‘Oh, he’s a great player, I’m not going to take his number. Know what number I’m thinking of? I’m thinking of taking maybe #7. Is that available?'”

“I said, ‘Yeah, I think it is, why #7?’ He goes, ‘Going after that 7th Super Bowl.'”

Well it all worked out. Tom got to keep his number , and is about to try and get his seventh ring.

The only problem with TB wearing 7 would be if he had to switch to 8 the following season.

You know, assuming the Bucs win this season. . .
