NHL Reportedly Has A Deal To Start 56 Game Season on January 13

The NHL is back! According to ESPN, the NHL and NHLPA agreed to a tentative deal to begin the season on Jan.13, according to NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly. The season will reportedly consist of 56 games.

The NHL deal comes several weeks after the NBA reached an agreement with players to start their season this coming Tuesday. The hockey deal is still pending complete approval by the NHL and NHLPA’s executive boards, but it appears there is momentum. The NHLPA is reportedly set to meet later tonight, while the NHL board will likely vote on this proposed plan soon. It is looking very likely that we’ll have a 56-game NHL season starting on Jan.13.

The NHL finished their season last year in a postseason bubble with two hub cities, Edmonton and Toronto. The Stanley Cup was played between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Dallas Stars. The Lightning won their first Cup in franchise history.

Thankfully, we’ll have some winter sports to hold us over throughout the season, and hopefully we’ll get this vaccine going so we can attend games very soon. We could be getting very close to getting back to some normalcy in the sports world, which is good, because I don’t know how much longer I can go without attending sports games. I’m sure many sports fans would agree.
