Legendary Golf Coach Butch Harmon Says One Player Reminds Him Of Tiger Woods

With the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines fully underway, golf fans everywhere are missing Tiger Woods a little bit more this week.

While Tiger Woods continues to rehab from a scary single-car crash in L.A., the world’s top golfers will vie for the coveted U.S. Open title this weekend

I think we can all agree that no one on the current PGA Tour will ever achieve the accolades of Tiger Woods, but longtime coach Butch Harmon says that one guy reminds him of Tiger a little bit more than the others. Harmon said that both Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson resemble Tiger in some ways, Johnson is the closest thing we have to Woods.

“If he’s on his game, nobody can beat him,” Harmon said of Johnson, via Golf.com. “If they’re all on, and Dustin Johnson is 100 percent, they can’t beat him. And that’s not a put down to Rory, because he’s a phenomenal player…but Dustin Johnson, when he’s on, is the closest thing I’ve seen to Tiger Woods.”

Dustin Johnson took home his second major championship when he won the 2020 Masters Tournament in dominant fashion.

“I tell people, because he takes his balls with him in a wheelbarrow to the first tee, he’s not afraid of anything,” Harmon said, per The Spun. “He’s not afraid of any shot. He’s not afraid to try the right shot, even if it’s a difficult shot.”

Dustin Johnson is one of the favorites this week, along with McIlroy and Jon Rahm. These are some amazing golfers, but none of them are even close to Tiger Woods in his prime.

Not even worth it for Butch Harmon to try to compare guys to the GOAT.
