Thom Brennaman’s Dad is wondering why his son couldn’t have gotten a free pass. Long-time Cincinnati Reds play-by-play announcer Marty Brennaman replied via Twitter to an apology ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith made on First Take, showing support for Smith and adding that he wished his son’s employers “had been as forgiving” as Smith’s.
“Great apologies, young man. I only wish my son’s employers had been as forgiving as yours. Your words and sincerity were heartfelt. Keep up your good work”

Brennaman’s son, Thom, called it quits from his position as play-by-play announcer for the Reds and FOX Sports Ohio after he was caught using a homophobic slur during a Reds-Royals broadcast.

What Thom’s father fails to realize is, his son’s comment were far worse than anything Stephen A. Smith said. If SAS uttered those exact words, he too would be resigning.
And last time I checked, Stephen A. Smith ain’t a young man.
