Theo Epstein Reportedly Lands New Job In MLB

Theo Epstein wasn’t unemployed for very long. After stepping down as president of baseball ops for the Chicago Cubs, Epstein indicated that he’d probably like to take some time before taking on another organization. He also said that he’d considering working for the commissioner’s office in a small role for the time being.

“There are a lot of threats to that with everything going on in the world and industry issues that we face over the next year or so. Now that I’m not with a team and I’m outside, maybe there’s some way I could help or be of assistance. I’m gonna stay in the game one form or another — short-term or long-term. I’m confident in that,” Epstein said in November via Marquee Sports Network.

Well, it looks like Theo Epstein got his wish. According to 670 The Score’s Bruce Levine, Epstein will work for the commissioner’s office next season.

Good for Theo Epstein. I think he legitimately cares about the game, and has ideas on how the game can better grow and advance in this day-in-age. Theo is a smart guy, and should serve as a great asset for Rob Manfred in this role. As we know, Manfred could use all the help he can get.

After ending two long championship droughts (in Chicago and Boston), Theo Epstein still has plenty to give to the game of baseball.
