Sean McVay Says He’s In ‘Better Mood’ Since Matthew Stafford Took Over For Jared Goff

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay was one happy man this offseason when his front office was able to land quarterback Matthew Stafford from the Detroit Lions.

While McVay had a lot of success with Jared Goff, it didn’t seem like he was the guy to take the Rams over the hump. And Sean McVay knew it.

With Matthew Stafford and Sean McVay working together in minicamp this week, the head coach revealed that he’s been in a much ‘better mood’ with Stafford as his guy.

“I think I’ve been very happy,” McVay said to ESPN. “Everybody says, ‘Man, you just seem like you’re in a better mood this offseason,’ and I said, ‘Damn right I am.'”

Sean McVay has been raving about Matthew Stafford, and spoke about the difference he makes for the Rams.

“This guy, he’s a special guy,” McVay said about Matthew Stafford. “I think one of the best ways that I can describe him when you hear people that have been around him, there’s a known confidence where when he walks into a room, you feel his presence, but he’s got a great humility about himself. Everybody loves being around him, and he’s one of those guys that’s a true igniter. He makes everybody around him better.”

While Sean McVay put a lot of time and energy into developing Jared Goff into a competent quarterback, he certainly sounds like a coach who feels like his chances of winning a Super Bowl this season went up drastically with the Matthew Stafford.

As for Jared Goff? He’ll have to try to prove himself on a rebuilding Detroit Lions roster. Good luck
