PFF Releases Mock Draft, Trevor Lawrence Remains Obvious Top Choice But Who Else Joins Him?

Pro Football Focus released a mock draft for 2021 based on collegiate grades…and yes, Trevor Lawrence is going No. 1.

Using the team’s current standings, the Jets are in line to win the lottery for the No. 1 pick. This pick is all but wrapped up as the place Lawrence is going in the draft. The Clemson phenom is considered the greatest quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck.

Jacksonville, who almost won against Minnesota in overtime, is also looking at drafting a future quarterback under center. Justin Fields is projected to go No. 2. He is a lock after his incredible 2019 season that was simply overshadowed by Burrow and LSU.

The third pick, estimated to be the Cincinnati Bengals, is lined up to be used on LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase. This would be the highest pick used on a wide receiver since Detroit drafting Calvin Johnson with the second pick. Since 2000, 77 receivers were drafted in the first-round. 21 of them became Pro Bowlers while just nine were named to All-Pro teams.

Dallas is in line to draft the third quarterback within the first four picks; Zach Wilson from BYU. Dallas spending this high of a pick on a quarterback is a bold decision, especially when there are so many holes to fill on the offensive line and defense.

The Los Angeles Chargers, who are in total freefall, have their quarterback of the future. The issue is protecting him. The fifth pick is estimated to go to offensive tackle Penei Sewell. Herbert has been sacked 25 times over his 11 starts his rookie year.

Draft stocks will certainly change and a monsoon of mock drafts will flood everyone’s feeds. For now, the bottom dweller teams will continue to race toward the bottom of the league standings.
