The Chicago Cubs have made it very clear that they are open for business, and that would include being open to trading former MVP Kris Bryant.
While Bryant hasn’t been the 2016 version of himself in recent years, he would still figure to garner a lot of interest on the trade market. Today, Davey Martinez talked about the possibility of the Nationals making a move on the third baseman.
Davey Martinez on Kris Bryant's status with the Cubs: "His name comes up in conversations."

“His name comes up in conversations,” Martinez said of Kris Bryant.
This deal would make sense on many different levels. The Nationals have been looking for someone to fill their void at the hot corner ever since Anthony Rendon left for Los Angeles. Kris Bryant could be that guy, and the Cubs figure to be entering a phase of rebuilding their roster. The first step in that process would be to load up on young talent. Bryant only has one year remaining on his rookie contract, and the Cubs don’t seem to be very close to any type of extension. Bryant also has familiarity with Davey Martinez. Martinez was the cubs bench coach when they won the World Series in 2016.
Even though Bryant seems like a fit in Washington, Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo attempted to squash the rumor shortly after Martinez’s comments.

I’d expect Kris Bryant to start the season in a Cubs uniform, but don’t be surprised if he gets traded mid-season. He could be a valuable asset for a team looking for any contending team looking to add one more bat in the middle of their lineup.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t the last time we hear Bryant’s name tied to the Nationals.
