Denver Broncos Reportedly Passed On Justin Fields Due To Epilepsy

With the ninth pick in the NFL Draft, many fans were hoping to see the Denver Broncos select quarterback Justin Fields.

But the team opted for defense, taking corner Patrick Surtain.

With the next pick, the Chicago bears moved up to snag Fields, and Broncos fans were left wondering why their organization didn’t pounce when they’re far from set at the QB position.

Now, it’s being reported that the Broncos were worried about a pre-existing medical condition Justin Fields has had for a long time now.

According to Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson, the Broncos were wary about Fields due to his epilepsy.

When Justin Fields was asked about his epilepsy during the draft process, he assured everyone that his doctors had the condition under control for a long time now.

“I mean, it’s pretty simple for me to manage it,” he said via PFT. “I just have to take three to four pills a night, every night. It’s nothing crazy. It’s a thing that’s been there for the past seven or eight years, so I’m used to it, and I’m just going to continue to deal with it and continue to play the game that I love.”

So far, every report out of Bears Training camp has indicated that Justin Fields has showed up as advertised.

If he ends up being the franchise quarterback Chicago so desperately needs, the Denver Broncos might be regretting their decision to pass for a long time.
