Giants Owner John Mara Goes Viral Over Brutally Honest Quote About Team

The Giants are down bad right now, and owner John Mara knows it.

When speaking with the media after firing head coach Joe Judge this week, Mara made it clear that he was blindsided by just how bad the Giants performed in 2021.

John Mara was asked if this was as embarrassed as he’s ever been about this team, and here’s how he responded:

“Honestly, I would have to say yes, yes it is,” Mara said. “I kept thinking during the season we had hit rock bottom, then each week it got a little worse.”

John Mara would go on to say that he was really hoping to show some patience in Joe Judge. But after this season, there was no way he could have kept the head coach around.

Along with Judge’s ousting, the team announced this week that general manager Dave Gettleman was also stepping aside.

“Steve (Tisch) and I both believe it is in the best interest of our franchise to move in another direction,” Mara said in a statement. “We met with Joe yesterday afternoon to discuss the state of the team. I met again with Joe this afternoon, and it was during that conversation I informed Joe of our decision. We appreciate Joe’s efforts on behalf of the organization.

“I said before the season started that I wanted to feel good about the direction we were headed when we played our last game of the season. Unfortunately, I cannot make that statement, which is why we have made this decision.

“We will hire a general manager and that person will lead the effort to hire a new head coach.”

Whoever John Mara brings in to rebuild the Giants will have their work cut out for them…
