James Harden Reportedly ‘Open’ To Leaving Brooklyn After This Season

James Harden and the Brooklyn Nets are currently among the favorites to win the NBA Championship this season. But that’s not to say that there aren’t a fair share of issues going on for the team.

For starters, point guard Kyrie Irving remains a distraction. And he’s currently only playing in Brooklyn’s road games due to an unwillingness to take the COVID-19 vaccine. The team has also battles injuries and the usual social media nonsense from Kevin Durant.

Despite the noise, James Harden and the Nets are currently in second place in the Eastern Conference with a 27-15 record. But even so, Harden wants to keep his options open.

According to a report, James has an “openness” to leave Brooklyn after the season.

“It must be noted that there is enough noise circulating leaguewide about Harden’s reported openness to relocation this summer,” NBA insider Marc Stein said on Monday.

James Harden has been playing the role of point guard for most of the season in Kyrie’s absence. On the year he’s averaging 22.7 PPG, 8.0 rebounds and 10 assists.

His contract extends through next season, but he has a player option for the 2022-23 season.

The heavy speculation from fans is that Harden will look to join former Rockets executive Daryl Morey with the Philadelphia 76ers once they move on from Ben Simmons.

We’ll see if James Harden is willing to leave money on the table to leave the Brooklyn Nets this offseason.
