Jalen Hurts Has Been Named The Starting QB of the Philadelphia Eagles, Replacing Carson Wentz

It is Jalen Hurts time in Philly.

Doug Pederson recently announced that he will be benching Carson Wentz, and rolling with rookie Jalen Hurts this weekend.

This was an absolute bomb from Schefter, and something I wasn’t necessarily expecting. Carson Wentz has been awful all season, there’s no doubt about that, but the Eagles also might be stuck with Wentz and his massive contract.

Get in Some Sideaction:

In 2019, Wentz signed a 4-year extension with the Eagles worth over $100 million. He will now be the most expensive backup in the league. Say Hurts shows something in the remainder of the season, now Philly would have to stick with him.

If that does end up being the case, the Eagles would likely look to trade Carson Wentz, and they would probably have to eat a good chunk of his salary. The semantics of this whole situation are what makes me shocked by Doug Pederson’s decision to go with Jalen Hurts over the guy the franchise invested in.

Doug Pederson has made his bed, and now he’ll have to lie in it. Who knows? Maybe this will go down as one of the better moves he’s made, and Hurts will lead the Eagles back to respectability in the NFL.
