Wrigley Field Sportsbook Brings Gambling to Cubs Games

The Chicago Cubs are launching a Wrigley Field sportsbook so fans can gamble on baseball games. The Cubs announced a multiyear partnership with DraftKings on Thursday, which includes plans for a Wrigley Field sportsbook. The addition will include self-serve kiosks, similar to what you see when you go to a horse race. And for all the doubting Thomas’ out there, yes, gambling in Illinois is now legal.

Wrigley Field Sportsbook Coming Soon

Ever wanted to make a live bet at the ballpark when the Cubs are down four runs in the first inning? You will soon be able to do exactly that. Wrigley Field is already a great baseball experience and now you are telling me there will be gambling? Sounds like heaven. I’m a Cubs fan, but I really am not a huge gambler. Having said that, if the Wrigley Field sportsbook will be available when the stadium reopens for fans, count me in. The only issue is, Lord knows when that reopening will actually take place. If you haven’t been to Wrigley before, you’re going to want to check it out when the sportsbook opens. Especially if you are a big-time gambler.

Matt Kalish — co-founder and president of DraftKings — says he sees the Wrigley Field sportsbook as a hybrid gambling center/bar where fans can grab a beer while plunking down bets.

“It might be the Cubs to win, maybe a few props like first home run, then stroll into the game at 6:45, sit down, sweat my bets and cheer on the Cubs,” Kalish said (via ESPN).”Then, after the game, I can stop back at the DraftKings book, relax with my friends, get some food and drink and think about the next day’s game, maybe put in a few more tickets.” –TMZ Sports

I don’t know about you, but that sounds like the life to me. Details are still in the works, but the hype is real. Cubs fans, DraftKings fans, and gamblers everywhere get ready to have a big time at Wrigley!
