Hard Knocks Is Back, Plan Your Day Accordingly

Finally, something I enjoy that hasn’t been canceled or postponed … Hard Knocks makes a very welcome return tonight. I’ll grasp onto anything football related this time of the year, and without any preseason games, this is what we have for the next month. The thought of seeing Aaron Donald has never been so comforting.

For the first time, the HBO crew is following two teams — the Rams and Chargers have to share both a new stadium and our attention. What will the Chargers look like without Philip Rivers? Tyrod Taylor is there, but so is first-round QB Justin Herbert, will there be a controversy? I feel like safety Derwin James and newly rich (yes, that’s a position) Joey Bosa will be two heavily featured on the Chargers side. On the Rams side, how does Jared Goff look? What is the run game going to look like with completely removing Todd Gurley from the picture? The Rams also have three new coordinators, including offensive and defensive coordinators. There’s definitely a lot of change within both of the teams, and then when you add in COVID-related protocols and adjustments, I think this is going to be a really interesting season.

Also, if they are going to film two teams, it needs to be competitive, so we better see Anthony Lynn and Sean McVay out there doing an Oklahoma drill for the football crown of Los Angeles. Now let’s have some fun tonight — football is kind of back!
