Dwayne Wade Reacts To Arkansas Banning Healthcare For Trangender Youth

Dwayne Wade has turned into an advocate for transgender right after he daughter, Zaya, has transitioned earlier in her life.

Wade doesn’t shy away from the uncomfortable conversations that surrounds his daughter’s decision, so it was not a surprise that he wasn’t afraid to lash out after Arkansas announced it was becoming the first state to ban health care for trans youth.

Wade’s message to Arkansas was short but powerful. “Your Hate will not be final. Love will always win in the end!” D-Wade wrote on his Twitter.

Dwayne Wade recently went on “Ellen”, and talked about his journey raising his daughter Zaya.

“We are proud parents of a child in the LGBTQ+ community and we’re proud allies as well. And we take our roles and our responsibilities as parents very seriously,” Wade told Ellen via Vox. “Zion, born as a boy, came home and said, ‘Hey, so I want to talk to you guys. I think going forward I am ready to live my truth. I want to be referenced as ‘she’ and ‘her.’ I would love for you guys to call me Zaya.’” In response, Wade said it’s their job as parents to get information so their child can be “her best self.”

Good for Dwayne Wade for using his platform to help support people like his daughter Zaya. Hopefully he continues to work to ensure that barriers will be broken in the future.
