Eagles Owner Jeffrey Lurie Wants The Team To Prioritize Jalen Hurts

The Eagles moved on from Carson Wentz this offseason, but their future at quarterback is still a bit up in the air. Jalen Hurts is the obvious frontrunner for taking the reigns, however, a long-term decision is yet to be made. Some believe the Eagles will elect to take a quarterback high in the 2021 NFL Draft. On the other hand, it seems that Hurts has the support of the Eagles’ owner. According to ESPN NFL insider Chris Mortensen, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie told his franchise to prioritize Hurts at quarterback moving forward.

“I would not report the Eagles have internal unanimity on Hurts as QB1 but sources say the boss, Jeffrey Lurie, has instructed his group to prioritize making Hurts successful in 2021 as opposed to creating a true competition,” Mortensen tweeted in response to a question about Hurts and the QB position.

Hurts has already taken steps towards becoming the starter this offseason, leading workouts with his wide receivers. The starting job will not just be handed to Jalen Hurts, however, it looks to be his for the taking. Should the Eagles decide to draft a quarterback early on in the draft, there could be some competition in the quarterback room. For now, it looks like the starting job belongs to Jalen Hurts for the foreseeable future.
