Dwayne Haskins Cut by Football Team; Drawing Comparisons To Josh Rosen

Former Washington Football Team quarterback Dwayne Haskins appears to be on a similar career path as Josh Rosen. The two former first-round quarterbacks are considered to be two of the bigger busts in recent memory. Rosen was drafted in the first round by the Arizona Cardinals, and has bounced around from the Dolphins, Bucs, and was recently picked up by the San Francisco 49ers.

I think the Dwayne Haskins-Rosen comparison has some merit, but it’s a little unfair to Josh Rosen. Haskins completely blew his opportunity to be a starting quarterback despite being given a real opportunity. Rosen was shown the door in Arizona after one year because Kyler Murray became available to them.

Haskins also couldn’t handle himself off the football field, and there’s no evidence that Rosen has ever been a problem in the locker room. Josh Rosen might get a chance to start in San Francisco next year, while Haskins will likely have no chance to be a true QB1 in 2021. The Washington Football Team could be in the market for a quarterback as well.

Haskins and Rosen are both young, but they’ll need to do a lot before they can shed the “bust” label.
