Chicago Bears Reportedly Looking Into Possibility Of Signing Davante Adams

Aaron Rodgers’ future in Green Bay is definitely up for grabs. But apparently Davante Adams may be looking for a new home in 2022, as well.

The superstar receiver is set to hit free agency this Summer. And according to one report, the Chicago Bears may be looking to steal him away from their bitter rivals.

Davante Adams has a relationship with former Packers QB coach Luke Getsy — who joined Bears coach Matt Eberflus’ staff as the offensive coordinator last week. Getsy was also Adams’ wide receivers coach in 2016-17.

Here’s what a source evidently told Sports Mockery:

“GETSY AND DAVANTE ARE EXTREMELY CLOSE. DAVANTE WAS THE VERY FIRST PERSON LUKE TOLD HE IS TAKING THE OC JOB IN CHICAGO BEFORE EVEN MATT (LAFLEUR), BRIAN (GUTEKUNST), RUSS (BALL), OR MARK (MURPHY). THAT SHOULD TELL YOU THEIR RELATIONSHIP.”

Davante Adams had deemed Luke Getsy an “unsung hero” of the Packers’ offense in the past.

“ONE OF THE UNSUNG HEROES IS COACH GETSY,” ADAMS SAID OF HIS WIDE RECEIVERS COACH IN THE FIRST TWO YEARS HIS CAREER TOOK OFF AFTER STRUGGLING IN 2014 AND ’15. “LUKE GETSY IS A COACH WHO I REALLY REALLY ENJOYED HAVING. … I HAD A LOT OF RESPECT FOR GETS AND WHAT HE DID WITH US BECAUSE HE PLAYED QUARTERBACK, SO THE WAY HE DOVE INTO THE WIDEOUT POSITION AS FAR AS THE PARTICULARS, THAT HELPED OPEN UP MY EYES EVEN MORE SO THAN WHAT I LEARNED FROM (WILLIAMS) BEFORE THAT. SO HE’S A GUY WHO’S TRYING TO BE A MASTER AT HIS CRAFT.”

Obviously, the new Bears regime believes in Luke Getsy similarly to Davante Adams in order to hire him to be Justin Fields’ mentor and play-caller going forward. And perhaps the connection to the Packers wideout will help them out when free agency begins following the Super Bowl.

We’ll wait to see if there’s any smoke to these latest rumors.
