It’s no secret that the former NBA great Charles Barkley is a gambling man. However, this time Chuck has proposed a bet that has surprised the TNT crew and fans of the NBA everywhere. Charles Barkley is willing to put $100,000 on one team to come out of the West. Spoiler alert: it’s not the Lakers. It’s not even any of the major contenders in the West either. Not the Clippers, Mavericks, or even the Nuggets. It’s the Portland Trailblazers. Seems unbelievable, right? If you don’t believe me, listen to Charles Barkley say it himself.

Is any team truly worth betting $100,000 on after just seeing just two games? I guess when you have Charles Barkley money you can consider it, but still, the risk doesn’t feel like it’s worth the reward. There is no debating that Damian Lillard is one of the best point guards in the league. And he has a strong backcourt running mate in CJ McCollum. But betting $100,000 on the Trailblazers to win the West before even seeing them play just feels like throwing away money.

Charles Barkley is known for making bold statements, but this one just feels egregious. I guess we shall see if Chuck decides to put his money where his mouth is.
