Aaron Rodgers Talks About What Kind Of Role Tavon Austin Will Have For The Packers

It takes talent to win in the NFL and quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been asking his Green Bay Packers to get him help on offense for a few years now. Today, it looks like he finally got a playmaker. The Packers announced the signing of speedster Tavon Austin, and Rodgers seems to be pretty happy about it.

“I think the best thing you can do for any player is give him a role he can embrace,” Aaron Rodgers told Pat McAfee on Tuesday. “If we can find a role for Tavon, whether it’s returning or doing some fly-motion stuff and finding ways to get him the ball in space, I think it’ll be a great thing.”

Look, Tavon Austin might not be a home run signing, but it’s something. The Green Bay Packers have pretty limited talent on offense – outside of Aaron Rodgers and all-world receiver Davante Adams – so maybe adding a guy like Tavon Austin can be a big help for them.

Austin was waived by the San Francisco 49ers after suffering an injury earlier in the year. He played in 14 games with the Cowboys in 2019.

The Packers will look to run away with the NFL’s NFC North division after embarrassing the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. It looks like Aaron Rodgers and Co. could be poised for a deep run in the playoffs. It will be interesting to see what kind of role Tavon Austin plays for them going forward.
