Panthers GM Sets The Record Straight on their QB Situation

While most teams have their QB1 in place for the upcoming season, most NFL insiders feel the Panthers are still looking to find their guy.

The Panthers were in the hunt for Deshaun Watson, and since that ship has sailed,  some feel like they could go after Baker Mayfield.

Panthers GM Scott Fitterer spoke with the media on Friday and made it clear that Sam Darnold is QB1 at the moment and that his development is key going into next season.

"The whole key is bringing Sam [Darnold] along,'' Panthers GM Scott Fitterer said. "He's in the lead for that job.'' After the season Fitterer said the QB job was "open.''
