Mason Rudolph Trade Rumors Making the Rounds

The Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback room may be getting a little crowded.

Currently the Pittsburgh Steelers have three QB’s who could potentially start on any given week. There’s Mitchell Trubisky, who is coming from Buffalo, where he sat and learned behind Josh Allen.Ā  Plus Mitch the Kid has real starter experience during his tenure with the Chicago Bears. There’s also rookie Kenny Pickett, who is also making his case to get the starting job. The Steelers are one of three teams who are in a Quarterback battle.

Mason Rudolph isn’t even onĀ  the list of QB battles, which firmly cements him as the #3 QB on the Steelers depth chart. Being QB3 is definitely not a position you want to be in if you expect to see some playing time. Now it appears the Steelers might be in the market to trade Rudolph.

ā€œA former NFL GM told me thinks Mason Rudolph could be traded to the Lions by the end of the week,ā€ tweeted 93.7ā€™s Andrew Fillipponi.

See below:

The Lions are rolling with Jared Goff, but they’re still trying to find a competent backup.

After Tim Boyle struggled in the preseason opener and David Blough coughed up the football, it would not surprise anyone if the Lions made a move for a QB.

ā€œBoth of them, I thought made some really good plays, man,ā€ head coach Dan Campbell said, when asked about the play of the backups against the Falcons. ā€œBut, then thereā€™s a couple of these plays that leave a bitter taste in your mouth.

ā€œCertainly, the interception that Tim had, he didnā€™t quite lay out in front enough. And then the snap ā€” the exchange there, the critical play there in the red zone by Blough. Those two hurt you, man, and thatā€™s kind of what all this is about at the end of the day, you know. You do a lot of good things, but those will bite you.ā€

Rudolph played in five games for the Steelers last seasonĀ  with oneĀ  start. He threw for 324 yards while completing 58.1 percent of his passes to go along with two touchdowns and one interception.

Sounds like it’s time for a change of scenery for Rudolph.
