Doug Pederson Admits Jaguars Need “Healing” After Urban Meyer Disaster

Veteran NFL head coach Doug Pederson is left with the tall task of trying to pick up the pieces with the Jacksonville Jaguars after the complete disaster that was the Urban Meyer experience last season.

When speaking to the media this week, Pederson admitted that some “healing” was going to have to occur in his locker room in order for the team to build back trust after last season.

“I do believe there has to be some kind of healing with the situation and everything that transpired last year because … there’s a lack of trust that was broken, I think,” Pederson said via NY Post.

Urban Meyer’s one year stint in Jacksonville probably couldn’t have gone much worse. He was accused of physically kicking Josh Lambo, and was the subject of a couple different off-field controversies. Specifically, a video of Meyer being grinded up on by a woman who wasn’t his wife stood out the most.

In the end, all the stuff Meyer put Jacksonville through, along with winning just two games during the season, resulted in his early exit.

Now, Doug Pederson will be tasked with creating an offense around prized QB Trevor Lawrence, and he appears ready to move the team forward following Urban Meyer’s disastrous reign.

“For me, it’s about gaining the trust back, and they’ve got to see it through me,” Pederson said. “They got to see the transparency. The honesty. I’ve always said I’m going to be open with them and I want them to be open with me.

“It just comes down to communication and having an open line of communication. We’ve been able to have some conversations that way in team settings and I think the guys have really embraced it and are doing well.”
