Angels Reportedly Make Decision On Trading Shohei Ohtani Ahead Of The Deadline

Will Shohei Ohtani be moved prior to tomorrow’s Trade Deadline?

Last week, it was revealed that teams were calling the Angels about trading for their dynamic two-way star after it was reported that they were leaving the door open to the possibility of a move.

Of course, the Dodgers were among the teams looking to get a deal done.

Now, however, the Angels have reportedly decided to keep Shohei Ohtani.

Per NY Post’s Jon Heyman:

“The Yankees are among a few teams that made serious offers for two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani, but there is now no chance the Angels will part with the amazing two-way player.

The Padres and White Sox are among other teams known to have tried for Ohtani in recent days, with the Angels originally signaling they are willing to listen to offers on the once-in-a-century phenom. Several teams inquired, but the interested sides have moved on with the understanding the Angels are deciding to keep their all-time versatile megastar.”

It always felt like a long shot that the Angels would part ways with Shohei Ohtani.

Even if they’ve showed no signs of having a competitive team now or in the near future, Ohtani is simply too valuable to their organization for a marketing standpoint.

Hopefully we get to see Shohei Ohtani on a playoff-caliber team sometime in the future. But for now, his ridiculous talent is being wasted away in LA.
