Report: NFL Insider Says Aaron Rodgers Has ‘Made it Clear’ He Plans on Retiring After this Season

Is Aaron Rodgers set to retire after this season?

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has proven he still has the stuff, but his long-term in the future isn’t exactly as clear, as once again rumors of Rodgers retiring  has surfaced. The four-time MVP has considered retirement a few times in the past several years, but in the offseason he signed an enormous three-year extension worth $150 million. The extension cooled any idea of Rodgers retiring. But now there’s an interesting report that surfaced which suggests that Rodgers will actually retire after this season, per sports journalist Michael Balko Jr.:

“I’ve spoken to some people within the #Packers organization, they told me that QB Aaron Rodgers has “made it clear” that he plans to retire following the season.”

Rodgers turns 39 in December and hasn’t given any indication that he’s planning to retire following this season. Hard to imagine him walking away from that contract any earlier than he has to.  The Green Bay Packers legend requested a trade after the 2020 season due to apparent frustration with GM Brian Gutekunst and the front office. He ultimately took back the trade request and decided to return to the Packers.

Rodgers is still very much in his prime, but he’s still looking to win another Super Bowl  to cement his legacy.

The Packers are currently sitting in second place in the AFC North with a 3-2 record. The reigning MVP has completed 67.9 percent of pass attempts for 1,157 passing yards and eight touchdowns against three interceptions.

Hard to imagine Rodgers never playing again after this season, he’s too good to call it a career.
