LaMelo is not about the number 2.
For the 2021-22 season, Ball missed the deadline to switch numbers and was forced to wear No. 2 for a second-straight season. But, LaMelo Ball was clear during exit interviews following Charlotte’s loss to Atlanta in the Play-In game that he’ll be back in his beloved No. 1 next season.
“It’s supposed to [happen],” Ball said. “I ain’t supposed to wear two ever again in my life. If I see a two, ah man, I don’t know what I’m going to do, I ain’t going to lie to you. I just ain’t never been two. It’s just weird for me. It just don’t feel like you playing, for real. Like, I don’t know who this is. I don’t know who number two is. I know my brother, that’s it. No other number twos.”

LaMelo scored a game-high 26 points in the team’s 132-103 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday.
Maybe a new number will help get the Hornets over the hump..
