NBA players are free to spark up!
According to NBA writer Ben Dowsett, players will not be tested for marijuana for the upcoming season.
League sources: Continuing a theme from the Orlando bubble, the NBA will not test its players for marijuana for the upcoming 2020-21 season.

Sources say this decision is largely based on COVID safety – just another way of limiting unnecessary contacts.
However, there's also significant expectation from many in the league that the entire marijuana testing program is on the way out in the near future.

Of course, NBA Twitter is blowing up with this news. JR Smith took a lot of the jokes on social media…for obvious reasons.

In all likelihood, NBA players have probably found a way to blaze up even when it was a banned substance. Now, they just won’t have to worry about getting caught.
It remains unclear if Adam Silver will stick with the plan to not test for weed, or if it’s just for the time being due to COVID. For what it’s worth, I don’t really see a point in banning weed for NBA players. Many athletes have come out in support of marijuana, claiming it helps them heal. Let em have it.
It’ll be fun to watch NBA games and speculate on whose baked on the floor every time someone does anything remotely stupid. I’m here for that.
I wonder if teams will still take it upon themselves to ban players from smoking weed during the season. Even so, that probably wouldn’t stop JR Smith.
