The Seahawks Could Be Screwing Up Russell Wilson Relationship With Jamal Adams Contract Talk

After a contentious offseason with Russell Wilson, the Seattle Seahawks still have plenty of other issues with other guys on their roster.

Most importantly, they still haven’t came to terms on a new contract for star safety Jamal Adams.

Prior to last season, Seattle sent a massive haul of Bradley McDougald, a first- and- third-round pick in 2021, and a 2022 first-round pick for Adams.

According to ESPN, a hefty extension offer has been sent to Jamal Adams, and Pete Carroll has said that he’s hoping the deal will get done “very soon.”

Even if the Jamal Adams debacle gets figured out, theres another contract dispute on their roster.

At 36-years-old, Duane Brown remains one of the top offensive lineman in the league, and with his contract expiring next year, he is also voicing his displeasure with the organization that a new deal hasn’t been in the works.

Russell Wilson has made it clear that he believes the Seahawks need to figure out Duane Brown’s contract while he sits out of live action at Training Camp.

“Not having Duane Brown out there is a pretty significant deal because I think he’s one of the best left tackles in the game, there’s no arguing it,” Wilson said Sunday after the Seahawks’ mock game at Lumen Field via ESPN. “I think he’s as good as it gets. There’s nobody more athletic, more talented than he is. Age is just a number. He looks like he’s 28-30 out there. He’s really exceptional. So smart and physical, understands the game, and I think people fear him, to be honest with you, when they’re rushing him and playing against him.

“So we definitely want to be able to get him back out there. We’ve got to figure that out because we need Duane Brown.”

So far, it looks like the Seahawks are prioritizing Jamal Adams over Duane Brown.

When talking about a potential Brown extension, Carroll responded with a vague, “”Nothing new is happening with that at this point.”

If the Seahawks continue to prioritize other areas of their roster while leaving Russell Wilson with a subpar offensive line, wouldn’t that be a recipe for disaster? Isn’t this exactly what Wilson was talking about all offseason when he was saying things like, “I’m frustrated [about] getting hit too much“?

The Seahawks have made it abundantly clear time and time again that they’re prioritizing Pete Carroll and his roster decisions over the best quarterback they’ve had in franchise history, and it could be a colossal mistake.

If the Seahawks give Jamal Adams the bag, leave Russell Wilson high and dry, and fail to make a deep run in the season, Russell Wilson will undoubtedly be upset.

Don’t be surprised if the same story we were hearing about Wilson and the Seahawks all offseason continues in the future if the Seahawks’ brass continues to undermine the quarterback’s wishes.
