Ron Rivera Makes Honest Admission About Dwayne Haskins Jr.

Quarterback Dwayne Haskins Jr. was one of the biggest busts we’ve seen in recent memory.

After being picked early in the 2019 Draft, Haskins had completely proved that he is incapable of leading the Washington franchise to prowess. His disappointing tenure was culminated by coach Ron Rivera  and the Washington brass cutting ties with their quarterback.

Now, Ron Rivera is opening up about what went wrong with Haskins.

“You know what? I tried to come to terms with him,” Rivera said. “He’s a very talented player. He’s got an NFL arm, a legit arm, and there’s a part of him that he wants to, but something keeps getting in the way. I’m not sure what it was, and that was the hard part because he puts in the time, and then he doesn’t. And you’re wondering, ‘Where is he? What’s he doing?’ You see him over there and you go, ‘OK,’ and then you don’t see him. So I think the thing he needs to do is just prioritize. The kid, as I said, he’s talented, and if he ever does get it, he’s going to make an impact.”

Dwayne Haskins proved during his short tenure in Washington that he wasn’t mature enough to be a franchise QB. However, he’s still only 23-years-old and the jury is still out on whether he can carve out an NFL career for himself.

Dwayne Haskins was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier in the offseason. We’ll see if he can improve enough the where he’ll get another shot in the NFL.
