Mac Jones Wanted Nothing To Do With The Football After Throwing First NFL Touchdown

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is not into all the personal accolades that may come from his rookie season.

After throwing his first NFL touchdown against the Dolphins on Sunday, receiver Nelson Agholor tried to give the ball to Jones as a keepsake. Jones handed it back to Agholor, who gave it back to Jones before he eventually gave it away to backup quarterback Brian Hoyer.

After the game, Mac Jones spoke on why he wanted nothing to do with keeping the ball as a memento.

“It’s not really about me. My job is to be the quarterback, and that’s to either hand the ball off or throw it,” Jones said. “I can do a better job, and everyone else, I thought they played hard, but we can play even harder. We’re just going to go up from here.”

Not only has Mac jones fully embraced the “Patriots Way”, but despite the loss, he looked like a guy who can win lot of games for New England.

The rookie appears to be ready to handle the load for the Patriots. He was 29/39 on Sunday with 281 yards and a touchdown.

Mac Jones might think this season isn’t about him. But for all the Patriots fans who are looking for someone to take over after Tom Brady’s departure, Jones will be under the microscope all season long.

So far, he’s passing the test.
