Lincoln Riley Gets Clowned Over His Comments About Taking Players From Oklahoma

Lincoln Riley is still public enemy #1 with Oklahoma Sooners fans.

After leaving OU after many years to take the job at USC, Riley took a handful of players from the Sooners, including star quarterback Caleb Williams. But when speaking on the matter, Riley insisted that he didn’t “take” the players, he just reaped the benefits of the transfer portal.

“We didn’t take players from Oklahoma. We took players from the transfer portal,” Lincoln Riley said. “Those players and their families had to make a decision to stay at that university … or to enter the portal where they could be recruited by anybody.”

Lincoln Riley was immediately trolled by Oklahoma fans and National media members alike over his comments about not deliberately taking some of his players with him to the new destination.

Obviously, Lincoln Riley had to know his move to leave Oklahoma was going to rub people the wrong way. And there was no scenario where he wasn’t going to try to get some Sooners players to come with him to USC. But to act like he didn’t have a hand in bringing Caleb Williams and others with him is juts a bald-faced lie.

It looks like the “rebuild” with Riley in USC isn’t going to last very long — as he’s already getting some of the top players across the country to join him.

But one thing is for sure: he’s never going to be a very popular guy in Norman, Oklahoma.
