Lakers-Warriors Expected To Be ‘Centerpiece’ Matchup On Christmas Day

For a while there it looked like we weren’t going to have NBA basketball back in 2020. Thank god, we will. The season is supposed to begin on Dec. 22. The best part of that plan? We will have NBA on Christmas Day. As for  the matchups, there are many possibilities. However, it appears as though the NBA has already made up their mind on which matchup they want to take center stage.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst expects that the Lakers will play Steph Curry and the Warriors for primetime Christmas basketball.

Here’s what Windhorst had to say when he was talking about the potential Christmas Day matchups.

“I think the game that you will see as the centerpiece game [on Christmas] will be Warriors-Lakers,” Windhorst said via NBC Sports. “The reason [for] that is not only do you bring Steph Curry and Klay Thompson back … but also you’re gonna have — unless the Warriors make a big trade — a top-three pick in this draft to be displayed, possibly in his first game. It could be James Wiseman’s first game, in addition to the defending champion Lakers. That’s a delicious matchup.”

Sign me up for that game. Steph and Klay will be back healthy, and they will look to continue their rivalry with Lebron James.

Lebron is no stranger to Christmas basketball. This year will mark the 15th time he will have played on Christmas Day. That trails only Kobe Bryant, who played in 16 Christmas games. It looks like it’s only a matter of time before Lebron breaks that record.

It should be a fun NBA season. The Warriors playing the Lakers will be a great way to get into the swing of things.
